VARIOUS OPTIONS FOR YOUR GREENHOUSE FOUNDATION:
TIMBER FOUNDATION: (most common)
To start you will need: 3/4" drain rock or crush gravel, 4x6 pressure treated timbers, dimensions as per your Cedar-Built Foundation Plans.
- Place foundation timbers in trenches on a bed of gravel so that the top of the timbers will be flush height (or slightly higher) with the surrounding ground in your yard.
- After foundation timbers are securely fastened together, backfill around the timbers with gravel and fill the remaining floor area with gravel also. See pictures below for great ideas clients have for finishing walkways.
- You may lay down landscape cloth in the floor area prior to placing gravel, to impede any weed growth.
- Tamp down all gravel until compact.
CONCRETE SLAB ALREADY IN PLACE:
Drill holes in concrete & place expansion bolts in holes or, drill holes in
concrete & set bolts in place using epoxy grout.
*Place bolts in locations shown on Cedar-Built foundation plans.
CONCRETE TO BE POURED:
Pour concrete foundation footings or slab as per your Cedar-Built foundation specs which we will provide to you free of charge.
BUILDING YOUR OWN STONE OR MASONRY BASEWALLS:
Occasionally clients want to use masonry or stone rather than our t/g basewalls. We will provide you with the drawings for building your own 30" or 18" basewalls with foundation, or we can provide the 2x4 framing for your veneer. Our sloped window sill will anchor on to this.
Most clients prepare their foundation prior to receiving their kit. It is an easy process with all materials available locally.
When you order your Cedar-Built kit, we will email the exact foundation instructions and specs.
